Brandon Bryant was born in Altus, OK and wrestled at Altus High School where he graduated. He has owned and operated his own Martial Arts business since 2001 in Altus. His interest in martial arts began when he was 6 years of age after watching Bruce lee on film. He then studied Karate when he was age 9 in Altus, OK. He competed in various tournaments when he was 9 through 15 years of age. He was the number one competitor in the state of Oklahoma in his age division for three years in a row. He won all gold medals in forms of fighting in Karate. He competed at the state and regional, then national level to land a spot in the Junior Olympics of 1992. Brandon earned third place in the nation for fighting and 4th for the forms division and 4th place for weapons. Brandon won three Sooner State Games Championships where he competed in various divisions in advanced karate.

Later in life, Brandon found an interest in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Jeet Kune Do. Jiu-jitsu is a grappling art with joint locks and submission holds that use leverage-based techniques to subdue an attacker. Jeet Kune Do “way of the intercepting fist” was developed by Bruce Lee and is a lot like mixed martial arts. It takes various fighting styles to create a scientific approach to techniques used in self-defense. Brandon liked both of these arts so much that he submerged himself into Mixed Martial Arts until he was 22. He then met Carlos Machado who is a World’s Master’s Champion in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Carlos learned Brazilian jiu-jitsu from Carlos Gracie Jr. in Brazil. Carlos moved to Los Angeles, California and taught Chuck Norris for the show Walker, Texas Ranger. Carlos brought Brazilian jiu-jitsu to Dallas, Texas where he opened a Brazilian jiu-jitsu school. Brandon spent a lot of years under Carlos training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and is still currently learning from him. Brandon was recently awarded his black belt in BJJ under Carlos Machado, the father of jiu-jitsu.
